Steering Committee
The Steering Committee will coordinate all aspects of work inside and outside of the project. We will be in contact with other members of the project and lead their work. The members of the Steering Committee will be in touch with all participants by phone, e-mail and fax. The Steering Committee will also serve as the supervising editors for the texts published by the Journal of CHDR. They have to give remarks and to help writers to improve their texts.
Darko Gavrilović / Director
PhD. Darko Gavrilović is professor of history and cultural studies at University in Banja Luka, Bosnia, and at Singidunum University, Faculty of European Legal and Political Studies in Sremska Kamenica, Serbia. He is advicer of Euroclio organisation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and editor of the journal The Culture of Polis in Novi Sad. Professor Gavrilović’s research interest focus on the Serbian culture, Serbo – Croat relations in the 20th century and European politics. PhD. Gavrilović has written a number of books, including „The Fields of the Serbian Medieval Culture“, „The Paths of the Serbian Culture“, „Stjepan Radić and Serbs 1871 – 1918“, „The Light and the Darkness of the Modern World, 1775-2000“, „The Strikes of Destiny – Political Myths in the 20. century“. His latest book is In the Meanstrom of the Nationalism (Stjepan Radic and Serbs 1871 – 1918; Svetozar Pribicevic and Croats 1918 – 1936), Novi Sad 2007. He wrote two history textbooks. Darko Gavrilović received Jewish Society Reward in Yugoslavia for the Novels in 1999., and in 2000. Also he received Diploma “St. Cirilo and Metodije” of Scientific Forum at Faculty of Philology in Lodz, Poland, for research in Slavic cultural relations in 2004.
Ljubiša Despotović / Member
Prof. dr Ljubiša Despotović je profesor na Filozofskom fakultetu u Novom Sadu, nastavu drži na odseku za medije i odseku za sociologiju. Kao gostujući profesor nastavu držao na Filozofskom fakultetu u Banja Luci, na Alternativnoj akademskoj mreži u Beogradu i na Fakultetu za preduzetni menadžment BK u Novom Sadu. Glavni je i odgovorni urednik naučnog časopisa Kultura polisa. Član je predsedništva Udruženja za političke nauke Srbije, Srpskog sociološkog udruženja i redovni član Matice Srpske. Do sada objavio više knjiga, monografija, hrestomatija i zbornika od kojih su najznačajnije Srpska politička moderna, Ekološka paradigma, Sociologija demokratije i dr. Autor više od 60 naučnih i stručnih radova. Učestvovao na više domaćih i međunarodnih naučnih skupova.
Ana S. Trbovich / Member
Dr Ana S. Trbovich teaches European Integration and Public Administration at the Faculty of Economics, Finance and Administration (FEFA), University of Singidunum, Belgrade, Serbia, and acts as a consultant for various international organizations. From 2002 to 2006, Dr Trbovich served as Assistant Minister of International Economic Relations in the Government of Serbia, charged with coordinating Serbia’s EU accession process and foreign investment policies. She worked on implementation of Dayton Peace Accords in Bosnia in 1997 and actively supported democratization efforts in Serbia during 1990s. She holds a PhD from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, two Masters degrees (MALD, Fletcher School; MPA, Kennedy School of Government, Harvard) and a BA from Tufts University as a triple-major in Economics, International Relations and French Literature. Dr Trbovich further specialized in the European Union policies at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in France and speaks several languages. She is the author of ‘A Legal Geography of Yugoslavia’s Disintegration’ (Oxford University Press, Nov 2007).
Vjeran Pavlaković / Member
Vjeran Pavlaković was born in Zagreb, Croatia, and moved to the United States in 1978 at the age of four. He received his PhD from the Department of History at the University of Washington in June 2005, where he completed his dissertation on Croatian volunteers in the Spanish Civil War. He has published articles on refugee issues in the former Yugoslavia, war criminals and war crime tribunals, and democratization in Croatia, and co-edited the book Serbia since 1989: Politics and Society under Milošević and After, published by the University of Washington Press. He is currently on an NCEEER post-doctoral fellowship in Croatia working on a book, Red Stars, Black Shirts: The Clash of Political Symbols in Contemporary Croatia.
Ranka Gašić / Member
Ranka Gašić, Ph.D. graduated history at the Faculty of Philosophy, Belgrade University. She was doing research on the Serbo-Croatian relations and the Yugoslavism in the early 20th century, on the Serbian press in the Habsburg Monarchy, on the history of Belgrade between the World Wars, elites in the Serbian society, free-masons in Belgrade and cultural influences of Britain and Germany in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. She has been conducted her research at the University of Leipzig, at the Political Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bonn, Bundesarchiv in Berlin, and the State Archives in Vienna. She is the author of two books: «New Course» Policy of the Croatian Serbs, (ed. in Zagreb, Croatia, in 2001) and Belgrade on its Way to Europe (ed. in Belgrade in 2005). She is a research fellow and a member of the Board of the Institute of Contemporary History, member of the Association for Social History in Belgrade. She is also a member of Suedosteuropa-Gesellschaft in Munich, and a member of the Board of Michael-Zikic-Fond in Belgrade.
Edina Bećirević / Member
Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Criminal Justice Science, University of Sarajevo. Phd candidate at the Faculty of Political Science in Sarajevo, MA in Political Science (CEU, Budapest), MSc in Media and Communications (LSE, UK). Participated in numerous international projects and published extensively on the topic of human rights, international law and restorative justice. Publications include: International Criminal Court: between Ideals and Reality (Medjunarodni Centar za Mir, Arka press; Sarajevo 2003).
Edin Radušić / Member
Edin Radušić was born in 1970 in Udovičići, Foča municipality. He graduated history from the Sarajevo Faculty of Philosophy in 1999, received an MA in south-east European studies in Athens in 2000, M. Sc. in history of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 19th and 20th century at Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo in 2004, PHD degree at the Faculty of Philosophy of Sarajevo in 2008. He has been employed as an Assistant since 1999, as Senior Assistant since 2005, and Assistant professor Lecturer since 2009 at the history department of Faculty of Philosophy of University of Sarajevo. His scientific field is history of Bosnia and Herzegovina of the 19th and 20th century in broader European context. He is an author of several scientific papers and a co-author of a text book and two teacher manuals for history for seventh grade of primary school. He participated in several scientific conferences in the country and abroad. Edin Radušić is active member of Euroclio HIP, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Centre for history, democracy and reconciliation from Novi Sad, Serbia. Both of these organization work together with two international organization – Euroclio and Institute for historical justice and reconciliation.
Vesna Ivanović / Member
Vesna Ivanović was born in Sarajevo in 1962. She received her M.A. and Ph.D at the Department of Political Science at the University of Zagreb. Currently, she works in the Administration for Regions of Special State Care, in the Croatian Ministry of Regional Development. She has published numerous reviews, articles, and three books: Croats in Bosnian and Herzegovinian Society: People, Landscapes, Time (Zagreb: Tipex, 2005); The Collapse of Yugoslavia and the Formation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sarajevo: Svjetlost, 2005); and The Extended Hand – Croatian Righteous Ones: Good Deeds in War, by S. Lang and V. Ivanović (Zagreb: Amatio, 2006).
